At the grand-finale of the Africa Netpreneur Prize Initiative (ANPI) held in Accra, Ghana. The smartBag blockchain pioneer Temie Giwa-Tubosun has taken home the top prize.
Africa Netpreneur Prize Initiative (ANPI), pioneered by Chinese investor Jack Ma has made available $1 million for the 10 finalist that will emerge from the competition. Temie Giwa-Tubosun takes the first price reward home worth $250,000 cash prize
About 10,000 entrepreneurs from 50 African countries applied for the competition. Only 10 applicants was selected for the “Africa’s Business Heroes,” finale event, held Saturday in Ghana.
The lucky 10 finalist presented it’s business to the four judges including Jack Ma, Zimbabwean businessman Strive Masiyiwa, Joe Tsai and Vice Chairman Alibaba Group Ibukun Awosika.
SmartBag blockchain pioneer and Lifebank Founder and CEO Temie came first followed by Egyptian Omar Sakr, founder and CEO, Nawah-Scientific. The third winner was Christelle Kwizera, founder, Water Access Rwanda.
Temie got $250,000 grant while Omar got $50,000 grant and Kwizera was awarded $100,000. The remaining finalists were awarded $65,000 grant each for their various businesses.
