Deputy Senate President of Nigeria says AI and Blockchain technology is one of the big technologies needed for the fourth industrial revolution for the future of digital economy of Nigeria.

He mentioned AI and Blockchain technology during a paper presentation at the just concluded Luncheon of the Government College Ughelli (GCU) Old Boys Association. 

Noteable guests present at the event includes: the host, Governor of Lagos State, Governor Olusola Babajide Sanwo-Olu and President of Dangote Group of Companies, Alhaji Aliko Dangote.

Speaking on the sub topic: Technology, innovation and national development process in Nigeria. He said that current administration is putting good measures in place to ensure aan enabling environment for the growth and adoption of the technologies of the fourth industrial revolution.

He commends the Central Bank of Nigeria for encouraging banks towards fighting against cyber crime and encouraging the use of e-payments. He also commended the banks for it’s efforts towards upgrades in mobile payment and internet services.

“Yet, this is an age of the fourth industrial revolution with its attendant Artificial Intelligence (AI), blockchain, robotics, facial recognition, paperless learning, cashless economy, etc.”

He also recognised the Regulatory Sandbox for cryptocurrency and blockchain tech introduced by the Securities Exchange Commission. 

One of the members of the regulatory sandbox committe, Chimezie Chuta is also the Chairman of Stakeholders in Blockchain Association of Nigeria. Siban introduced an alert feature called siban scam alert to fight crypto scam in the space.

He also expressed his appreciation to Governor Olusola Babajide Sanwo-Olu for contributions towards funding startups in the state. He also congratulated Alhaji Aliko Dangote for his immense contribution to economic growth in the country.
