The Coinbase exchange’s website, mobile app, and API website experienced major outages. The news went viral following too many tweets on the connectivity issues with screenshots confirming the service outage on both website and mobile app.
It appears that Coinbase goes down usually during high market uptrends, especially with bitcoin. In June 2019, Coinbase’s site and API went down during a nearly $2,000 fall over a 15-minute period.
Coinbase Pro users reportedly experienced the same issue again in November 2019.
Earlier before today, the site went down in March 2020 following the crypto market’s “Black Thursday” crash, when Bitcoin shed more than 20 percent of its value in under 30 minutes.

This issue dates back to the 2017 bull run, when Coinbase suspended ethereum and litecoin market trades as a result of outages to sustain the trade.
Coinbase happens to be the largest U.S based crypto exchange in the world according to coinmarketcap data. Most users are suggesting an upgrade since it looks like Coinbase can’t hold high market trades during major market moves.
