Donald Trump, the U.S. president-elect, has appointed Bo Hines, a former college football player, as the executive director of a new advisory group called the “Crypto Council.” This group aims to promote growth and innovation in the digital assets industry.
Announcement of the Crypto Council
Trump announced on his social media platform, Truth Social, that Bo Hines would take this role under the leadership of David Sacks, Trump’s chosen expert in crypto and artificial intelligence.
In his role, Bo Hines will work alongside David Sacks to ensure that leaders in the digital assets industry have the tools and support they need to innovate and thrive.
In 2022, Bo Hines ran as a Republican candidate for a U.S. House seat in North Carolina but narrowly lost to Democrat Wiley. However it is worthy to note that Hines received financial backing during his campaign from pro-crypto political action committees (PACs), including the American Dream Federal Action super PAC.
Appointment of Senior AI Adviser
Trump also named Sriram Krishnan, a former general partner at venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), as the senior adviser for AI policy on the same council.
Krishnan expressed his honor in taking this position and aims to maintain America’s leadership in artificial intelligence by working closely with David Sacks.
“I’m honored to be able to serve our country and ensure continued American leadership in AI working closely with David Sacks,” Krishnan wrote on X in response to his appointment.
