Tether and the UNODC are strengthening Africa’s digital economy through cybersecurity education, blockchain innovation, and anti-crime initiatives.

Tether, the issuer of USDT, has partnered with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) to combat cybercrime and strengthen digital asset security across Africa. The collaboration supports the UNODC’s Strategic Vision for Africa 2030, focusing on financial inclusion while addressing transnational crime, fraud, and human trafficking.

Key initiatives include a multi-phase cybersecurity training program for young people in Senegal, featuring bootcamps, mentorship, and micro-grants to support local innovation. The partnership is also funding civil society organizations in Nigeria, Ethiopia, Uganda, Malawi, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Senegal to assist victims of human trafficking.

The move comes as Africa ranks among the fastest-growing crypto markets globally, increasing exposure to illicit activities. By combining blockchain transparency, education, and cross-sector cooperation, Tether and the UNODC aim to build safer, more resilient digital ecosystems and empower communities across the continent.
