Kenya has taken a major leap in modern policing with a new training programme built to combat rising blockchain and crypto crimes.
Kenya has officially launched a specialised Blockchain and Cryptocurrency Investigation Training Module to help law enforcement keep pace with digital crime. The programme, unveiled at the DCI headquarters, marks the country’s strongest move yet against tech-driven criminal networks.
Representing the DCI Director, Ms. Rosemary Kuraru highlighted the urgency of adapting to fast-changing digital threats. She explained that criminals increasingly hide behind virtual currencies and decentralised platforms, making traditional methods ineffective. The new training is designed to close that gap.
Fully funded and technically supported by the European Union, the initiative equips DCI officers and partner agencies with advanced skills in tracing blockchain transactions, analysing digital wallets, investigating crypto-linked offences, and applying global digital-forensics standards.
The programme boosts Kenya’s readiness for modern policing and positions the country as a regional leader in fighting cyber-enabled crime.
