Surge in crypto scams prompts Nigeria SEC to demand tighter oversight, transparency, and collaboration to protect investors nationwide.


The Nigerian Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is stepping up its fight against cryptocurrency fraud, calling for greater transparency in the digital asset market.

Speaking at a webinar hosted with blockchain analytics firm Chainalysis, SEC Director-General Dr. Emomotimi Agama stressed the need for regulators and private companies to work together.

The event — “Combating Scams with Blockchain Intelligence” — highlighted how data sharing, advanced blockchain analytics, and stronger oversight can track and disrupt scams, protecting the public from financial fraud in Nigeria’s growing crypto space.
