EOCO achieves Africa’s first crypto fraud asset repatriation, signaling a new era in forensic digital crime fighting and public protection.

Ghana’s Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has announced Africa’s first successful confiscation and planned repatriation of assets linked to cryptocurrency fraud. Acting Director Raymond Archer confirmed the breakthrough at a press briefing in Accra, declaring it a major step in EOCO’s mission to protect the economy and youth from digital exploitation.

The recovered assets were traced to fraudulent crypto schemes, with repatriation efforts currently underway. EOCO also formalized a strategic partnership with QNET to combat brand abuse by scam networks, targeting fake job offers, scholarship scams, and illegal travel schemes.

Both EOCO and QNET pledged to expand public education campaigns to combat digital fraud and enhance national awareness. This milestone positions Ghana as a trailblazer in forensic crypto investigations across Africa.
