Visa partners with Yellow Card to bring stablecoin-powered cross-border payments to Africa, advancing digital dollar access and liquidity tools.

Visa has partnered with Yellow Card, Africa’s first licensed stablecoin payments operator, to boost digital dollar adoption across the continent. The collaboration aims to improve cross-border payments, treasury efficiency, and liquidity management, starting with one African country in 2025 and broader expansion in 2026.

With rising demand for USD-pegged stablecoins like USDC and USDT, especially in Nigeria and Ethiopia, the partnership responds to the region’s limited access to dollars and growing crypto use. According to Chainalysis, stablecoins now make up 43% of crypto transaction volume in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Yellow Card has processed over $6 billion in transactions across 20 countries. The deal marks Visa’s deeper integration into crypto infrastructure, reflecting a broader shift toward blockchain-powered financial solutions in emerging markets.
