After months in Nigerian custody, Tigran Gambaryan resigns from Binance, vows to keep aiding crypto-law enforcement collaboration.

Tigran Gambaryan, the Binance executive detained in Nigeria for eight months, officially resigned from Binance on June 6, 2025, nearly a year after his high-profile release.

In a statement shared via X, Gambaryan reflected on his career and reaffirmed his commitment to bridging crypto, compliance, and law enforcement, stating:
There is a growing need for trusted, experienced operators—people who can translate between technology, enforcement, and compliance.”

He hinted at a future role either in public service or a mission-driven private institution.

Timeline of Detention & Legal Drama
Feb 2024: Gambaryan and Nadeem Anjarwalla detained after flying to Abuja for talks with regulators.

Mar 2024: Binance halts all Naira transactions; Anjarwalla escapes to Kenya.

Apr 2024: Gambaryan pleads not guilty to money laundering and tax evasion charges.

Jun 2024: Nigerian FIRS drops tax charges.

Oct 2024: EFCC drops remaining charges, and Gambaryan is released.

His detainment drew criticism from U.S. lawmakers, human rights groups, and the crypto community, who accused Nigeria of unlawful detention. Gambaryan reportedly endured untreated medical issues, including malaria and a herniated disc, while in custody.

What’s Next for Gambaryan?
Though no new affiliation has been announced, his post suggests a future in crypto-focused compliance, enforcement, or advisory roles, likely aimed at supporting national security through blockchain intelligence.
“I intend to continue making a difference,” he stated, signaling a strong return to the crypto-law enforcement interface.
