Morocco Arrests Suspected Mastermind Behind French Crypto Kidnappings

A 24-year-old Franco-Moroccan man accused of orchestrating brutal crypto kidnappings in France has been arrested in Tangier.


Moroccan authorities have arrested 24-year-old Badiss Mohamed Amide Bajjou, the alleged mastermind behind a wave of crypto-related kidnappings in France. He was detained in Tangier following an Interpol red notice for hostage-taking and false imprisonment.

Bajjou is believed to have orchestrated the January abduction of Ledger co-founder David Balland, during which Balland’s finger was severed to extract a ransom.

France Shaken by Crypto Violence
The arrest follows a string of high-profile kidnappings and attempts targeting crypto entrepreneurs and their families. The incidents have stirred public alarm and prompted calls to prevent the “Mexicanisation” of France—referencing cartel-style violence.

Last week, French authorities charged 25 suspects, including six minors, in connection with the crimes.
