The EFCC has cleared Elie Bitar of wrongdoing in the CBEX crypto fraud case after reassessing evidence.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has officially removed Elie Bitar, 41, from its wanted list over the Crypto Bridge Exchange (CBEX) fraud, citing new information that invalidates his implication.
Bitar was one of eight individuals declared wanted on May 1 for a multi-million-naira crypto scam that defrauded numerous Nigerians. However, in a statement released Wednesday, the EFCC confirmed his removal, while emphasizing that investigations are ongoing.
“The Commission is making good progress in its investigations. Law enforcement agencies across the world are collaborating with it in tracking and arresting all the wanted persons.
“The EFCC will not relent in bringing every actor involved in the fraudulent dealings to book,” EFCC added
Seven suspects remain on the wanted list, and international agencies are aiding in their pursuit. The EFCC reiterated its resolve to bring all involved parties to justice.
