Ripple has teamed up with Chipper Cash to enhance cross-border payments in Africa. This marks Ripple’s second major partnership with an African fintech firm, reinforcing its presence in the continent’s growing digital payments market.
Chipper Cash, which serves 5 million customers across nine African nations, will integrate Ripple’s blockchain-based payment solutions to facilitate fast and seamless transactions. Reece Merrick, Ripple’s Managing Director for the Middle East and Africa, emphasized the significance of this move:
“As the global cross-border payments market grows, more institutions like Chipper Cash are tapping into the transformative power of blockchain technology to drive efficiency and innovation.”
Africa’s remittance market is projected to exceed $100 billion in inflows this year, with financial services revenue expected to reach $230 billion by 2025. Ripple’s continued expansion, including a 2023 partnership with Onafriq, highlights the increasing adoption of blockchain solutions in Africa’s financial sector.
